How do you fix a gummy smile? Often times there is much more natural tooth hidden under the gums and this results in two things: the teeth appear to be much smaller and shorter, and the pink gums overpower the white teeth in pictures.

This patient’s primary concern was replacing her old composite bonding done when she was younger. In our evaluation, we also showed the patient why her teeth appeared shorter. In this case, we performed a “gum lift” to uncover the patient’s existing natural, pretty tooth structure and replaced the old bonding with 4 porcelain veneers.
